Ober Gabelhorn
La Traversée
About the work
TheObergabelhorn appears here in all its grandeur. From shadow to light, it reveals its mysteries, the splendour of its flanks and its imposing ridges. On the right, you can see how theArbengrat rips through the sky. Its sharp, almost jagged rock seems invulnerable. And when, in hand-to-hand combat, it wounds our hands, we leave a part of ourselves on its crests. The Heart's ridge, at the center of the painting, guides us between two worlds to the summit. But it's the normal route ridge that tells us the most beautiful story here. A journey to the very edge of heaven. An unforgettable crossing. See how it outlines the sensual crest of theObergabelhorn. The snow gives it a soft, elegant silhouette. Then we're plunged into the heart of a dream. From the sun-kissed Wellenkuppe, we cross the Grand Gendarme before reaching the summit of theObergabelhorn.
I love this contrast that unites the ridges as much as it distinguishes them. Each one ventures between earth and sky in its own way. Indomitable or docile, abrupt or delicate. Just like the Alps and the highest summits , which only welcome people as they wish. I love the uniqueness of a queenly nature that creates infinity and constantly surprises us. I admire this kingdom of wind and rock that plays on our hearts when it turns white.
