Ober Gabelhorn
First Silver Glow
About the work
I took this aerial view ofObergabelhorn one morning in the summer of 2020. The mountain had just endured the season's only snowstorm. I had long dreamed of being able to capture the splendour of this summit just covered by its First snows. When they hide the rocks and reveal the mountain in a new light. Bringing out previously invisible details on the walls. Redrawing the landscape as the artist creates charcoal on a blank page.
As I contemplate this work, I'm fascinated by the sheer size ofObergabelhorn. See the immensity of its hanging glaciers adorning its rocky flanks. I'm delighted to have been able to immortalize the mountain in its most beautiful light, the legacy of an Alpine heritage that is inescapably evolving. I chose to photographObergabelhorn from this angle to bear witness to its infinite grandeur. Through contrasts of Soft and silver, this colossus of ice seems to invite us to come and meet it. A few days later, I answered its call. And when I reached its summit, I could see the Alps in all their beauty.
