Bewitching Mist
About the work
I took this panoramic photograph in winter. When the Pre-Alps had just suffered the fury of the storm. Offering their freshly snow-covered walls to the first rays of sunshine. A scene worthy of a 19th-century masterpiece. Bewitching and sublime. I love more than anything else this precious moment when the storm fades away to make way for renewed life. When a sea of clouds rushes between the mountains and devours the valleys. Leaving only the highest peaks to emerge. Like islands punctuating the waves. I lived in Belgium for over 20 years. The flat country. How could I have imagined that another world existed beyond the mist? Now I can get there. Soar to the kingdom of heaven. To travel among the mountains, letting photography transport me and guide my gaze to the highest summits. Contemplating these sumptuous landscapes nourishes my dreams and future projects.
