Mount Blanc
Light on the Roof of Europe
About the work
We're in the early stages of winter, when the furious winds begin to pick up snow. Sprinkling summits, they make this kingdom an unattainable dream. The risk of avalanche is at its highest, and hidden crevasses are as many traps. Faced with the dangers of this unstable mountain, climbers desert it, waiting for better days.
I love it when summits is lined up like this. Guiding our gaze from Aiguille du Midi to Mont Blanc, via Mont Maudit and Mont Blanc du Tacul. I love it when these luminous hues take hold of the mountains, sublimating the beauty of their features. Finally, I love the grandiose atmosphere when this colossus rises with all its might above a fascinating sea of clouds. To immortalize it in this way requires a great deal of commitment on my part. I have to wait and be available when the mountain demands it. These rare moments are dear to me. They resonate within me and fan the flame that fuels my art. In this portrait of Mont Blanc, I am delighted to offer you a marvellous journey to the ends of heaven and earth. A spiritual odyssey as much as an adventurous one. The work invites us to contemplate nature as much as to explore it. To better protect it and honor its splendor.
