Piz Palü
Ghost of the Mist
About the work
Piz Palü suffocates under the embrace of the clouds. Its imposing structure vanishes, leaving only a spectral silhouette. Geometry gives way to abstraction, sharp edges dissolve in the ether. The mountain no longer exists as a physical presence, but as a suggestion, a half-remembered dream. I stalked this ephemeral vision for hours. When the veil briefly parted, I captured the moment when Piz Palü no longer belonged entirely to our world. Rarely do high mountains reveal themselves with such intimacy. In this scene, it abandons its overwhelming majesty to reveal its poetic vulnerability.
This portrait of Piz Palü captures the secret soul of the Alps, one that only shows itself in those moments of transition between presence and absence. Far from the conventional photographs of sun-drenched summits , this work invites you to explore the spaces in between, the misty realms where the mountain becomes a spectre and a dream.
