Piz Roseg
Portrait of the Giant
About the work
I took this aerial photograph in spring. The last stigmata of a storm, the winds continue to shake summit, an invincible colossus that defies the horizon. By immortalizing this grandiose panorama of the Swiss Alps, I wanted to highlight the incredible verticality of the massif and its exceptional strength. In tone and composition, the work embodies the striking aesthetics of summit. Marking the Italian-Swiss border with its titanic imprint, it points valiantly skywards.
At print in large format, the many details visible invite us to discover its suspended glacier, its steep walls and its ridge of ice on which the snow never ceases to be swept away. Violent winds leave no respite at summit, and it's not until summer that the snow finally clings to it. Here, the art of photography illuminates the splendor of a wilderness that only welcomes man's presence on fine days.
