About the work
Here, the sun rises over summits and reveals new colors. Terrible storm conditions prevent any ascent: summit will remain untouched by human conquest for several days. I wanted to convey the celestial side of this ridge by depicting this realm of sky and clouds in contrast to the mineral element. The ridge rips diagonally through the photograph. On the left, the face is lost in the cotton of the clouds; on the right, the winds have blown the snow, pressing it against the steep wall plunged into darkness.
This photograph is strikingly vertical, with a meditative quality. Observe the illuminated appearance of Piz Scerscen on the right. Despite its 3970m, summit remains little-known; this shot, in its own way, pays homage to it...
