About the work
I captured this photograph at sunrise in spring. The wind had swept the heights and summits revealed new textures. At the foot of the mountain, the face was still frosted. Do you see any abstract shapes in this vertical wall? Look at the clouds too: only the Sciora Dafora pierces a cloud that is still very dark. A hole of light heralds a return to tranquility. That morning, I instinctively captured the spirit of the mountain: a powerful presence, an imposing grandeur, a will to soar skyward. Vibrating to the rhythm of the elements, I triggered my camera at that precise moment when excellence joined the extraordinary.
I appreciate the contrasts that emanate from this photograph, the different shades of grey that add substance, detail and depth. I like the atmosphere of the sky, still dark, but softened by a subdued light. The angle of view emphasizes the purity of the rock and the splendor of the lines. The thundering verticality of Sciora Dafora's north face resonates with power. Ode to grandeur, strength of the earth.
