Weisshorn
Fleeting Brilliance
About the work
I took this picture of the Weisshorn just as the storm had covered it in snow. At dawn, the mountain glistened under a sky Light, empty of clouds and devoid of the dramatic atmosphere I'm so fond of. Yet I stayed, hoping that the Weisshorn would reveal its fury. Hours went by. Suddenly, my patience was rewarded. The clouds, like sky painters, began to shape the contours of summit. It was the moment I'd been waiting for.
The Weisshorn rises from the depths of the earth to meet the celestial world. Sturdy pyramid, immaculate titan. Behind it, incipient clouds stir, ready to envelop the mountain. Between light and shadow, abstract forms are revealed. I like the bluish hue of the image, reminiscent of the color of the glaciers, which are absent from this photograph. I love the play of textures that sculpt the ridges, the beauty of the face, the elegance of the dancing clouds. The mountain changes every minute. It metamorphoses and I'm there to capture this moment of grace. The soul of the Weisshorn breathes elegance and purity into the world.
