Weisshorn - Bishorn
Immaculate silhouettes
About the work
Our journey begins, in the foreground of the photograph, at the summit of Pointe Burnaby at 4134 metres above sea level. Then the ridge guides us to Bishorn. At 4151 metres, it overlooks the Tracuit hut. Take a look at the crevasses beneath the snow. Bishorn summits is reputed to be one of the easiest Alpine peaks over 4,000 metres to climb. However, the mountain conceals many traps. You have to be vigilant to avoid them. Then begins the fabulous traverse of the Weisshorn. Its northern ridge ventures between earth and sky and, from the Grand Gendarme, leads us to the cross that adorns its summit. I climbed this impressive route in 2022, and my memories of it are indelible.
This portrait of the Weisshorn was born in the first rays of sunshine. The abundant snow covering the mountains reflects the light with intensity, redrawing their contours, their rock and their seracs. Our eyes lose themselves in the heart of this magical landscape, which changes with the passing hours and our thoughts. I love the power that emanates from the Weisshorn. The dazzling beauty of its ridges that underline its grandeur. Endowed with an incredible charisma, the mountain invites us to surpass ourselves, just as it does the sky. To believe in ourselves and in the beauty of the world.
