An awe-inspiring portrait of the Weisshorn, towering high above the clouds. summit is the highest peak in the imperial crown of Zinal, stretching between val d’Anniviers and the Zermatt valley in the Valais Alps. This magnificent photograph, taken from Zermatt, illustrates just how much the Weisshorn is one of Switzerland's most beautiful mountains. A perfect pyramid that seems to link heaven and earth. The Schaligrat ridge on the left and the normal route on the right underline its elegant, generous silhouette. In the background, bernese alps emerge from the mist, enhancing the beauty of this celestial panorama.

I immortalized the mountain in 2020, after one of the rare summer storms that crossed the Alps that year. I was infinitely lucky to be there at the right time. When summit, sparkling white, pierces the clouds. Luminous sovereign dominating the horizon. When you admire the work in large format, when you plunge your gaze into the depths of the mountain, the details multiply. Questioning our minds and uplifting our souls. The relief of the glacier, the succession of snowy lines, the striations that cross the mountain to testify to its geological richness. Contemplating photography takes us into a teeming universe that surprises us at every turn.

Using silver and Soft contrasts, I wanted to convey the incredible grandeur of the Weisshorn. But how can you imagine the sheer size of this slope in all its pristine immensity? There are no human visitors on the mountain, which snow conditions have made inaccessible. Only the Schali bivouac can serve as a landmark. But can you see it, nestling at the foot of the Schaligrat? Like a bottle lost in the middle of the ocean. I dream of one day reaching this wild and isolated refuge, and then climbing summit. A true invitation to travel, this photograph is an ode to the imposing and sumptuous Weisshorn.
