With its unrivalled presence and unique splendour, the Weisshorn rises to an altitude of 4505 metres in the Valais Alps. Famous summit of the Imperial Crown of Zinal, it unfurls its gigantic face on the borders of val d’Anniviers and the Zermatt valley. I took this masterly portrait of the mountain from the Gornergrat heights. On the left is the Schaligrat, with the Schali bivouac at its feet. On the right is the normal route, which I was lucky enough to follow on my descent the day I climbed the Weisshorn.

This magnificent black-and-white photograph highlights the east face of the Weisshorn. Dressed in Himalayan finery, the mountain rises from a sea of mist after overcoming the fury of the winds. Only its tip emerges from the clouds, revealing to the sun the glaciers that protect its flanks. Reaching for the sky, it brandishes its cross, victorious and blazing. To witness this exceptional spectacle, I had to provoke fate.

Listening to the mountain and the rhythm of the winds, I waited for a spark to emerge from the highest summits in the Alps. Fifteen years of patience and renewed hope. Until the magic happened. Never before had the clouds risen so high. Isolating the Weisshorn from the surrounding landscape, it reveals only the essential. The splendour of its soul and the brilliance of its contours. Our fascinated gaze is transported to summit , a poetic and grandiose world of ice.

For a fleeting moment, the mountain sparkles like a diamond in the rough. But as its dark rock reappears before my eyes, the dream remains engraved at the heart of my work. The moment becomes eternal, lifting the splendor of this Valais pyramid to new heights. The Weisshorn exults in clean lines, crystalline light and the play of snow on rock. The grace of simplicity, the elegance of purity, this is the strength of my art.
