Weisshorn
Ephemeral Splendors
About the work
How lucky I was to be able to take this exceptional photograph of the mountain! Thus adorned in its immaculate mantle, the Weisshorn reveals itself in all its splendor, sovereign of a world where nature is king. For fifteen years, I've watched it tirelessly, in the mad hope that it would reveal its Olympian beauty to me. I waited, I persevered, I never stopped going back. But never was I able to admire his face. On this particular day, we met by chance. I mechanically made my way towards him, even though the weather forecast had not predicted any major storms. Then the miracle happened, fiery and fleeting. In the early afternoon, as the sun lit up the west face of the Weisshorn, a lenticular cloud of orographic appearance suddenly appeared on its summit. An elusive jellyfish gracing the mountain with a celestial crown. This work illustrates the scope of my quest: to achieve a portrait of the summits alpine peaks over 4,000 metres above sea level. Freshly covered in snow and illuminated by a striking contrast, they reveal their soul to the viewer. My art as a vector of emotion in the face of the purity and immensity of the high mountains.
