Weisshorn
Ice horizon
About the work
The photograph also offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. To the left of the Weisshorn stands the Dom des Mischabel, the highest summit in Switzerland. The Täschhorn,Alphubel,Allalinhorn and Rimpfischhorn also stand out. On the right, the Monte Rosa massif stands out on the horizon. Our gaze falls on Dufourspitze, summit Switzerland's highest mountain, and on Nordend. The work then guides us towards the Liskamm, Castor and Pollux mountains to reach Breithorn. Below, we can make out the Gornergrat and its railroad line. From summit on the Weisshorn, the panorama is grandiose. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to admire it when I climbed it. The fog quickly enveloped us, and I had this magnificent experience without being able to contemplate the landscape. Despite the difficulties, I still have exceptional memories of this adventure.
I took this photograph of the Weisshorn in the middle of winter, after an impressive snowstorm. Victorious, the mountain's face is completely white in the sunlight. With its striking verticality, its 1,300-metre plumb line is vertiginous. It's hard not to be captivated by the grandeur and purity of this colossus, which challenges our gaze to the very edge of the Alps.
