The Zinalrothorn
Himalayan Appearance
About the work
I took this photograph at the end of the day, when a spring storm had just covered the rocks with a thick layer of snow. I was in the Tracuit hut, watching the wind. When the sky finally cleared, dark clouds continued to torment the mountain. Thus endowed with a majestic dimension, it revealed itself in a new light. Illuminated by a unique light, the Zinalrothorn appeared with striking contrasts. The texture of the snow on the seracs of its north face is sumptuous, the beauty of its hanging glaciers impressive. I was incredibly lucky to be able to witness this dazzling spectacle! I've only been able to witness such a moment once in my life, even though I devote a lot of time to showcasing this magnificent mountain. Looking at it, I travel beyond the world. From the top of its 4222 meters, it makes me dream, and everyone can see in it the symbol they like. In this photograph, its rocky peak reminds me of a bird's beak, defying the sky to let it fly.
I made this fabulous painting in 2016. It was one of my first works, one of those that inspired me to pursue my artistic quest in the high mountains. Go to search to discover the unique light and contrasts that nature offers us when it escapes from chaos. To immortalize through my photographs the purity of this alpine panorama, which shines with a thousand lights for a few moments before melting back into the landscape. To bear witness to the splendor of the world above, which nourishes me deeply and fascinates me forever.
