Needle of Blaitière
Phantom of Light in the clouds
About the work
I took this portrait of the Aiguille de Blaitière in 2018, patiently stalking the moment when the mountain would reveal itself in its most sumptuous finery. Nature finally offered me this moment of grace. As the storm finally gave way, the ridges emerged from the mist like a ghost of ice. The entire face, plastered with snow, radiated an unearthly whiteness. But this splendor usually lasts only a few hours. The first rays breaking through the clouds illuminate the faces in a play of light and shadow, but will soon melt this ephemeral sculpture. In this way, I captured this furtive beauty before it vanished in the heat of the day.
In taking this photograph, I wanted to highlight the personality of the Aiguille de Blaitière. Its expressive silhouette soaring towards the sky tells the story of its formation over thousands of years, of its struggle against the elements. Through contrasts, the mountain reveals its crystalline purity.
Immortalizing these rare moments that nature offers us is my passion. I like to be where the mountains reveal their infinite beauty, in the icy silence that follows a storm. In these moments suspended between two worlds, between fury and serenity, I feel the heart of the Alps beating. Through my art, I reveal the invisible. The Aiguille de Blaitière, thus emerging from the clouds, embodies the quintessence of my artistic quest: to pay homage to the beauty of the high mountains, to capture the ephemeral and render it immortal.
