Mount Rose
Guardian of Eternal Ice
About the work
At summit in the Swiss Alps, the glacial immensity of Mount Rose suddenly catches our eye. How could nature have created such a creature? Immutable or changeable, ferocious or benevolent, mountains soothe us as much as they torment us. And my work bears witness to its flamboyance. A precious legacy of our Alpine memories.
From the depths of the Zermatt valley, Mount Rose endures the excessive heat of summer. At the dawn of autumn 2022, the Alps are dying, the springs are drying up. The high mountains suffer from aridity. Deeply thirsty, its glaciers open up and reveal themselves. Beneath their smooth white shells, new crevasses are revealed. Fissures that time seemed to have erased, when in fact they were just buried. Today, these stigmata re-emerge gaping. And I grasp their beauty as the mountain grasps my most vivid emotions. Poetry is born of these tears, and I nourish my art with their flashes. Inconsolable but proud to honor the high mountains.
Under First snows, Mount Rose comes back to life. The Alps once again taste the tranquility of a pristine world. At the dawn of winter, I like to dream of summits regenerating. That nature breathes, touched by the sky.
