From shadow to light, the Weisshorn reveals itself. Freshly reborn from the fury of the winds. The jagged course of its northern ridge guides our fascinated gaze to the edge of the heavens. Ever since I first set eyes on it from the heights of the Bella Tola, this ridge has captivated me. Its ridges seem to beat to the rhythm of my heart. Its masterful silhouette seems to skirt the sky, like the lines of a score singing the beauty of the world. In 2022, I realized my wild dream of climbing this legendary route to reach summit on the gigantic Weisshorn. In the heart of the Valais Alps, a wall of snow-whitened rock, the mountain slashes the horizon in search of the absolute. In this square, black-and-white photograph, I pay homage to this emblematic colossus of the Zermatt valley and val d’Anniviers.

Opposite us, the tall Gendarme stands watch, a shadowy sentinel with a sharp summit. Our journey continues along the ridge to the mountain's summit , brandishing a cross as it defies the world. I took this portrait of the Weisshorn shortly after the storm. A magnificent lenticular cloud tops summit. Thus adorned in snow, the mountain is the sole sovereign of a celestial realm inaccessible to man.
